Review: Bazar Meat by Jose Andres

Jamon Iberico de Bellota Cinco Jotas

Address: 2535 S Las Vegas Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89109
Overall Experience: 8/10

Nestled in the heart of Las Vegas, Bazaar Meat by José Andrés is not just a restaurant; it's a place where meat is not just cooked but revered. This James Beard award-winning chef's creation is a perfect blend of innovation, luxury, and culinary excellence, making it an ideal destination for special occasions and those seeking a unique dining experience.

José Andrés, the mastermind behind Bazaar Meat, is a Spanish-American chef whose journey in cooking began in Spain, including time spent in the kitchen of Ferran Adrià’s renowned elBulli. Immigrating to the United States in 1991, Andrés has since established a group of restaurants that have won numerous awards and captivated countless diners. His identity as a Spanish immigrant and an American citizen shapes his role as a culinary ambassador, blending the flavors and traditions of both nations. Apart from his culinary brilliance, Andrés is also a humanitarian, having established the World Central Kitchen in 2010, focused on using food to empower communities and provide relief in emergencies.

Cotton Candy Foie Gras

For $290 per person, we indulged in the 'Ultimate Tasting' menu, a parade of culinary delights. The journey commenced with an assortment of finger foods including the playful Caviar Cone, whimsical Cotton Candy Foie Gras, and the innovative Ferran Adrià Olives, both modern and traditional. The Shrimp Cocktail was a refreshing interlude.

The Bison Carpaccio Buffalo-style

The journey continued with a creative reinterpretation of the Caprese Salad, dubbed “Not Your Everyday Caprese Salad,” featuring liquid mozzarella and Campari tomato. The Bison, Buffalo-Style, was an exquisite blend of flavors, followed by the luxurious Jamón Ibérico de Bellota.

As we progressed, the Sobrasada Toast with its warm, spicy sausage and the “Beefsteak” Tomato Tartare stood out. The Classic Tartare, served on mini Hawaiian rolls, was arguably one of the best we've ever tasted.

The Classic Tartare

The highlight, however, was the meat courses. The Japanese A5 Wagyu Beef, prepared tableside, came with its authenticity certificate, showcasing its pedigree. The Washyugyu Striploin was a revelation in taste. The sides - Grilled Asparagus, Seasonal Mushrooms, and a decadently Buttered Potato Purée - complemented the meats perfectly.

We concluded with an array of desserts including cream puffs, cookies, and assorted tarts, each a testament to the kitchen's craftsmanship.

Bazaar Meat isn't just a meal; it's a journey through flavors, innovation, and culinary excellence. A must-visit for anyone seeking a unique and luxurious dining experience in Las Vegas that fills you up in a nice and comfortable way.

As the evening drew to a close and the bill arrived, it summed up to an unexpectedly modest $666. Contrasting with this numerically ominous total, the dinner was, in every sense, angelic. Each dish not only tantalized the taste buds but also seemed to ascend culinary heights, making the total amount seem like a small price to pay for such a heavenly experience.
